Canaccord Genuity is seeking a highly driven individual to join our Trading team as a Junior Sales Trader. This role offers hands-on exposure across our specialist trading desks, working alongside senior sales traders to support client execution and idea generation. You will play a key role in strengthening client relationships, assisting with trade workflows, and helping to deliver best-in-class execution and service to our institutional clients in a fast-paced market environment.
Your role
* Analysing client and market data to help develop our execution offering and execute trades.
* Assist senior traders and sales in preparing market intelligence, stock‐level commentary, flow/trend analysis and trade ideas for clients.
* Shadowing senior members of the team to develop a deeper understanding of the market and our client’s needs.
* Learn and understand all aspects of the trade lifecycle, and manage order entry, confirmations and allocations.
* Develop and maintain appropriate client, sector, industry and stock market structure knowledge. Taking responsibility to attend specialist industry courses/seminars and relevant client events and pitches.
* Develop relationships with other CGL departments e.g Research and Sales both domestic and globally.
* Be highly comfortable working under pressure, managing multiple tasks and tight deadlines, with strong attention to detail.
Our ideal candidate
* Degree educated with a minimum 2:1.
* A strong interest in trading the financial markets.
* Previous internships or work experience in trading would be desirable but is not essential
* Excellent Excel, PowerPoint and Word Skills.
* Good understanding of relevant market data across the division including but not limited to Bloomberg and Fidessa would be desirable but is not essential.
* Critical and independent thinker/ analytical/ logical and reasoned.
* Excellent attention to detail.
* Excellent written & spoken English.
* Excellent mental arithmetic
