Smart Education is recruiting a Community Outreach Teacher to support students across Teesside who are unable to attend mainstream or alternative school placements. This flexible role involves delivering Maths, English, and Science sessions to students aged 11–16 on a 1:1 or small group basis in community venues, homes, or alternative provision settings.
You’ll be supporting learners with additional needs, including:
Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH)
Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD)
Behavioural, Emotional and Social Difficulties (BESD)This is a rewarding opportunity to help build confidence, academic skills, and aspirations in young people who need consistent, individualised support.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan and deliver tailored lessons across Maths, English, and Science
Teach in community-based settings (e.g., homes, libraries), prioritising safeguarding and wellbeing
Build strong, trust-based relationships with students and families
Work collaboratively with SENCOs, parents, and external professionals to support progressRequirements:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS) or equivalent
Ability to teach KS3/KS4 across core subjects
Experience working with SEN, PRU, or alternative provision students
Patient, adaptable, and nurturing teaching style
Strong communication and behaviour management skills
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
Driving licence and access to a vehicle required for travel
