18 month contract
The Role
You will be the heartbeat of the site, responsible for the day-to-day management of subcontractors and the physical progress of the build. This isn't a "sit in the cabin" role-we need someone proactive who is visible on-site, ensuring the highest levels of quality and safety are met.
Key Responsibilities:
Subcontractor Management: Leading daily briefings, coordinating trades, and ensuring everyone is working to the current program.
Health & Safety: Enforcing rigorous Tier 1 safety standards and maintaining all necessary site documentation/RAMS.
Quality Control: Conducting regular inspections and snagging to ensure the build meets Department for Education (DfE) specifications.
Reporting: Working closely with the Project Manager to provide accurate progress updates and flag any potential delays early.
Candidate Requirements
To hit the ground running, you must have a background that reflects the discipline required for a project of this scale.
Tier 1 Experience (Essential): You must have extensive experience working for a Tier 1 main contractor. You understand the processes, the paperwork, and the pace.
School Build Experience: Previous experience on a new build educational facility is a significant advantage.
Certifications: * SMSTS & CSCS Black Card.
First Aid at Work.
Tech Savvy: Comfortable using digital site management tools (e.g., FieldView, Procore, or similar).
Local Focus: Ideally based in or within easy commuting distance of Barrow-in-Furness.
