Principal / Associate Civil Engineer

Locations: Bristol | Cardiff | Bridgend
Salary: £55,000 - £65,000 (Dependent on experience) + Benefits

We are partnering with a Chartered Civil & Structural Engineering Consultancy that is strengthening its leadership team across the Southwest and South Wales. The practice has built a strong reputation for delivering intelligent, commercially focused engineering solutions and works with a wide-ranging client base across the UK.

Operating from Bristol, Cardiff and Bridgend, the consultancy offers a collaborative environment where technical excellence, professional trust and long-term client relationships are central to how projects are delivered.

The Opportunity

This role is suited to an experienced Principal or Associate-level Civil Engineer who is comfortable taking responsibility for projects, people and clients. You will play a pivotal role in leading project teams, overseeing technical delivery, and maintaining strong relationships with existing clients while contributing to the continued growth of the business.

The position offers a blend of hands-on engineering, team leadership and strategic input, making it ideal for someone looking to consolidate or step into a senior leadership role within a consultancy environment.

Key Responsibilities

* Take overall responsibility for the delivery of civil engineering projects across multiple sectors

* Lead and develop small to medium-sized teams, ensuring high technical standards and efficient project delivery

* Act as a trusted technical advisor and primary point of contact for key clients

* Oversee project performance, including programme, resourcing and financial control

* Provide technical guidance, mentoring and line management to junior and mid-level engineers

* Collaborate closely with architects, contractors and approving authorities

* Maintain compliance with current standards, legislation and industry best practice

* Contribute to the ongoing development and reputation of the consultancy

About You

* Degree-qualified in Civil Engineering or a related discipline

* Chartered Civil Engineer (ICE or similar preferred)

* Significant experience within a UK civil engineering consultancy

* Proven track record of leading teams and managing projects end-to-end

* Strong technical capability across infrastructure, drainage and highways design

* Commercially aware, with confidence managing client relationships

* Comfortable operating at a senior level within a multidisciplinary environment

* Proficient with industry-standard civil engineering design software
