SEN Teaching Assistant - Specialist School

Are you passionate about helping children feel confident, supported and ready to learn?

Whether you're an experienced Teaching Assistant, a graduate looking to gain school-based experience or someone with transferable skills from care, youth work or support roles, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.

We are recruiting a SEN Teaching Assistant to join a primary specialist school in Manchester, where pupils with additional needs are supported to thrive in a calm, structured and nurturing environment. This is a genuinely rewarding role where no two days are the same, and every small achievement feels like a big win.

The school supports pupils with a range of needs including Autism (ASC), ADHD, speech and language needs (SLCN), moderate learning difficulties and SEMH needs. Many pupils benefit from consistent routines, positive relationships and patient adult support to help them manage emotions, develop independence and access learning successfully.

You'll work closely with an experienced team including class teachers, the SENCO, pastoral staff and skilled support assistants, with access to excellent facilities such as intervention spaces, sensory/regulation areas and well-resourced classrooms.

Responsibilities
* Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEND
* Help pupils access learning and stay engaged throughout the school day
* Support emotional regulation and behaviour using calm, consistent strategies
* Assist with EHCP targets and personalised support plans
* Support classroom routines, transitions and breaktimes
* Work closely with teachers and the SEND team to monitor progress and wellbeing

Requirements
* Experience with children/young people (schools, care, youth work, coaching or similar)
* A patient, nurturing and resilient approach
* A genuine passion for supporting pupils with SEND
* Strong communication and teamwork skills
* Willingness to support personal care if required
* Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)

If you're looking for a role that is meaningful, hands-on and makes a real difference every day, apply now with your CV and start your journey in SEND education.

When applying through Aspire People, an enhanced DBS on the update service is a required document. If you do not have one already, you will be asked to apply for one through Aspire People before you are able to start in a position.

Any applicants that have been out of the UK for more than 3 months over the past 5 years will be asked to provide an overseas criminal clearance check. If you do not already have one of these, please apply for this before applying to this role.

All applicants must have a permanent residence and right to work in the UK. If you are currently based in another country, please do not apply for these roles as we will not be able to process your application.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role.
