Payroll Manager – Wembley
Salary: £40,000 – £50,000 DOE
Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Location: Wembley (next to Wembley Central Station)
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Payroll Manager to oversee the organisation’s payroll operations. This is a hands‑on role leading a team of three in a fast-paced office-based environment, ensuring the accurate and timely processing of all payrolls while maintaining full regulatory compliance. This opportunity allows you to utilise your payroll expertise and HR knowledge within a dynamic organisation committed to excellence.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead, manage and develop a payroll team of 3.
* Oversee up to 7 fortnightly payrolls each week.
* Manage up to 15 monthly payrolls.
* Submit all BACS files, EPS & FPS, PAYE & AOE, and pension contributions on time.
* Manage 3‑year WPP re‑enrolments.
* Keep the Star/Iris payroll system compliant and updated.
* Submit the annual Gender Pay Report.
* Ensure adherence to UKBA Right to Work requirements.
* Resolve payroll queries promptly.
* Respond to HMRC and Pensions Regulator enquiries.
* Review and strengthen payroll controls, routines, and segregation of duties.
* Liaise with Area Managers to identify improvements and efficiencies.
* Prepare fortnightly and monthly payroll analysis for P&L reviews.
* Respond to ONS employment-related requests.
* Lead, coach, and support team development.
Essential Requirements
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Strong analytical, critical‑thinking and problem-solving abilities.
* Intermediate to advanced Excel skills.
