A well-established freight forwarder is seeking an experienced Ocean Import Coordinator to join their busy operations team in Birmingham. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated professional to take ownership of ocean import shipments and develop their career within a supportive environment.

The Ocean Coordinator will manage end-to-end import shipments by sea, ensuring accurate documentation, smooth communication with carriers and clients, and full compliance with customs regulations. You will play a vital role in maintaining service excellence and meeting customer expectations.

Key Responsibilities:

Oversee the full process of ocean import shipments from booking through to final delivery

Prepare and manage import documentation, including customs clearances

Communicate daily with shipping lines, overseas agents, and customers

Monitor shipments and provide proactive status updates to clients

Investigate and resolve any shipment or documentation issues

Ensure compliance with international trade and customs regulations

Collaborate with colleagues across operations and customer service teams

About You:

Previous experience in ocean imports within a freight forwarding or logistics setting

Knowledge of customs procedures and import documentation

Strong organisational and communication skills

Proficient in freight systems and Microsoft Office

Able to work under pressure and manage multiple shipments simultaneously
