Exciting Opportunity for a Highway Drainage Engineer
This is a pivotal role within the newly established Highway Drainage Management Team. You'll support the delivery of key maintenance and capital projects as part of the authority's strategic "Future Highways Model" programme. This position offers the chance to make a real difference to how drainage assets are managed, providing safer and more effective infrastructure for residents and road users alike.
The main duties of the Highway Drainage Engineer are:
·Manage the delivery of cyclic, reactive, and planned works across the highway drainage network.
·Conduct site inspections and surveys to assess drainage conditions and requirements.
·Support the collection and management of drainage asset data through inspections and digital systems.
·Provide timely and professional responses to enquiries from residents, stakeholders, and service users.
·Work collaboratively with engineers and internal services to improve processes and service efficiency.
The Highway Drainage Engineer will have key experience in:
·Holding a BTec Higher in Civil Engineering or an equivalent qualification, with relevant post-qualification experience.
·Applying technical and practical problem-solving skills in drainage or similar civil infrastructure settings.
·Managing or supporting drainage asset maintenance and capital projects.
·Embracing new technologies and contributing to continuous service improvement.
·Communicating effectively with internal teams, contractors, and the public.
