Are you ready to take your skills to the next level with Cadent? We’re looking for a dedicated Network Technician to join our Electrical and Instrumentation (E&I) team within the Energy Operations directorate. In this hands-on role, you’ll be responsible for maintaining, modifying, and repairing E&I systems across our gas transportation assets, ensuring safe and efficient operations across the network.
You’ll play a vital role in supporting operational activities, fault finding, and non-routine repairs, while also collaborating with contractors and internal teams to deliver high-quality service. Whether your background is in domestic or commercial electrical work, if you have electrical testing experience and a passion for safety and precision, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.
Please note: This role involves regular travel, so a Full UK Driving Licence is essential.

Asset Health – Assess and report on the condition of E&I equipment and systems.
Maintenance & Repairs – Carry out planned and reactive maintenance to ensure system reliability.
Timely Delivery – Complete work efficiently and in line with statutory requirements.
Standby Support – Participate in the E&I standby rota to maintain service continuity.
Contractor Oversight – Supervise third-party work to ensure safety and quality standards.
Team Collaboration – Work closely with colleagues across Cadent to support operational excellence. What you’ll bring: You’re a skilled technician with a strong background in electrical and instrumentation systems and a commitment to safety and quality.
Experience – The job holder will have experience in an Electrical / Instrumentation / GQ&M environment in the provision of an operational maintenance service which must be delivered in a safe, cost effective and efficient manner. Activities include inspection and testing of Electrical / Instrumentation systems on gas pressure reduction sites, supporting operational activities and other non-routine operations associated with fault finding and repair of electrical / instrumentation assets
Technical Knowledge – Knowledge of appropriate legislation, policy and procedures, including E&I technical standards and maintenance procedures and a working knowledge of relevant codes of practice, engineering instructions safety and statutory regulation.
Legislation Awareness – Familiar with E&I standards and regulations (e.g., BS7671, EAWR, Health and Safety at Work Act).
Qualifications –
18th Edition wiring regulation’s inspection & testing BS7671 and City & Guild 2394/95 or BTEC or equivalent in Instrumentation and Controls
Instrumentation and Control or Electrical Qualification
Approved apprenticeship
Certifications – COMPEX EX01–04 preferred but not essential.
Team Player – Able to work independently and collaboratively with a proactive approach.
