This is an exciting opportunity to join a forward-thinking company offering hybrid working arrangements and a dynamic work environment.

The Role
As the Credit Control Manager, you will oversee and manage the credit control function for the business. You will ensure the company’s cash flow is healthy, by leading the credit control team, reducing bad debt risk, and ensuring timely collection of outstanding invoices. You will also support purchase ledger activities to provide a comprehensive service to the finance team. This is a varied role that requires strong leadership skills and the ability to build relationships both internally and externally.

Key Responsibilities:

* Manage the day-to-day operations of the credit control function, including leading a small team.

* Monitor and manage outstanding customer accounts, ensuring payments are made on time.

* Conduct regular credit checks on new and existing customers.

* Take appropriate actions to recover overdue payments, including negotiations, issuing reminders, and pursuing debt recovery when necessary.

* Liaise with sales teams to resolve any invoice discrepancies or payment issues.

* Prepare and maintain credit control reports, highlighting aged debt and collections progress.

* Oversee the purchase ledger function, including processing supplier invoices and ensuring payments are made in accordance with agreed terms.

* Develop and implement policies and procedures to streamline the credit control and purchase ledger processes.

* Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.

* Ensure compliance with company policies, financial regulations, and legal requirements.

Key Skills and Experience Required:

* Proven experience in a Credit Control Manager or similar role, ideally within the engineering or construction industry.

* Strong leadership skills, with experience managing a team.

* Knowledge of credit control processes, including managing aged debt, chasing overdue payments, and maintaining accurate records.

* Experience with purchase ledger duties, including processing invoices and supplier reconciliations.

* Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to deal with customers and suppliers effectively.

* High attention to detail, with strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.

* Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and experience with accounting software (e.g., Sage, Xero, or similar).

* Strong organisational skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

* A proactive, results-driven approach to achieving targets.

What’s on Offer:

* Competitive salary based on experience.

* Hybrid working (2-3 days in the office, rest working remotely).

* Opportunities for professional development and career progression.

* A supportive and collaborative team environment.

* Great benefits package, including pension, holiday entitlement, and more.
