Our Client are currently searching for a creative & dynamic Director of Buying.

About the Role

As Director of Buying, you’ll drive the buying and category strategy to delight customers and boost profitability across national operations.

You’ll lead a talented team, manage relationships with over 480 suppliers and 4,800 SKUs, and own the full buying P&L. Your expertise will ensure margin targets are delivered, processes streamlined, and innovative commercial plans implemented.

Key Responsibilities

Lead, inspire, and develop a high-performing buying team

Drive process improvements and integration across multiple sites

*

Negotiate supplier terms, optimise pricing, and deliver commercial targets

*

Build and maintain strategic supplier relationships

*

Analyse market trends to shape category strategies and maximise returns

*

Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, and Operations to deliver a compelling customer offer

*

Champion a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and customer focus

Qualifications & Experience

*

Proven experience as a Director of Buying or similar senior procurement role in foodservice, FMCG, wholesale, or manufacturing

*

Strong leadership and people management credentials

*

Exceptional negotiation, project management, and commercial acumen

*

Experience managing complex budgets, supplier relationships, and multi-site operations

*

Skilled in using ERP, SRM, and CRM systems to drive performance

*

Track record of delivering change initiatives and continuous improvement

*

CIPS qualification and foodservice sector experience are highly desirable
