Technical Sales Support Engineer – Bedford

Location: Office-based near Bedford
Hours: 37.5 per week
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

About the Role:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Technical Sales Support Engineer with a mechanical engineering bias to join a leading, globally recognised manufacturer in industrial automation and process technology.

You’ll play a pivotal role in supporting both customers and the sales team with technical product knowledge, particularly in pneumatics, automation, and thermal control solutions. The position combines problem-solving, product analysis, customer interaction, and internal collaboration to drive product performance and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

* Provide day-to-day technical support via email and phone

* Assist with product variations and special requests

* Investigate and report on customer product returns

* Support the development of new product proposals

* Conduct market and competitor product research

* Attend customer visits alongside sales for application advice

* Deliver training and webinars on product offerings

* Manage new product rollouts and support discontinued lines

Required Experience & Skills:

* Degree, HND, or HNC in Mechanical Engineering or related field

* Excellent communication skills across email and phone

* Logical, structured approach to solving technical problems

* Confident presenting technical information in person and online

* Hands-on technical testing/diagnostic experience

* Background in an engineering or technical support environment

* Strong time-management and multi-project coordination

Desirable (Bonus if You Have):

* Experience with automation systems or system design

* Prior background in technical sales support or applications roles

* Advanced hands-on experience in diagnostics or test environments
