Location: Able Seaton Port
Assignment Length: 6-month assignment
Schedule: 12-hour day and night shifts, Monday–Friday with weekend work expected; flexible hours required to support 24/7 operations.
Role Overview:
The Port Operative will work in a multi-skilled capacity within the Site Operations Department, supporting all site and port activities at Able Seaton Port. This role involves operating machinery, performing stevedoring and logistics duties, and ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
* Operate heavy equipment including telehandlers, forklifts, and MEWPs.
* Perform slinging, signalling, and working at height tasks.
* Support port logistics and stevedoring operations.
* Follow supervisor instructions and complete additional duties as required.
* Comply with safety policies and report all EHS incidents.
* Use basic hand tools and support mechanical tasks where needed.
Qualifications & Requirements:
* Previous experience as a Port Operative, Stevedore, or Multi-Skilled Operative (highly desirable).
* Safety certifications: IOSH/CCNSG Safety Passport; OG UK Medical.
* Equipment certifications (highly desirable):
* FLT NPORS Cat B/C
* NPORS N138 Telescopic Handler
* IPAF MEWP Operator
* A40 Slinger/Signaller
* GWO (Working at Height, Advanced Rescue, First Aid) beneficial but not essential.
* Strong health & safety awareness.
* Flexible approach, willingness to learn, and ability to work within a multi-shift pattern
