Department Leader – Product Development

About the Role
We’re seeking an experienced Scientific Leader to lead and manage scientific direction across product and process development for our client - a global player in the field of diagnostics. You’ll oversee the full project lifecycle - from feasibility through to validation and regulatory approval, ensuring compliance with GMP and global regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities:

The role of Department Leader is a pivotal role within the organisation.

* Lead and deliver product development projects to agreed timelines and quality standards.

* Provide scientific expertise in assay development, validation, and product licensure.

* Analyse and interpret complex data; prepare technical and regulatory reports.

* Mentor and develop junior scientists, ensuring high scientific standards across the team.

* Collaborate cross-functionally and represent the department in technical reviews and external interactions.

* Drive continuous improvement in product performance, process robustness, and documentation compliance.

Skills and experience:

* Degree (or equivalent) in a relevant scientific discipline with significant industry experience.

* Strong background in blood group serology or disease screening within a GMP environment.

* Proven leadership and project management skills.

* Excellent analytical, documentation, and communication abilities.

* Knowledge of design control, diagnostic / medical device product development, and relevant regulatory frameworks
