Good Afternoon,

I am currently representing Westminster Council, who are offering an initial temporary contract for a period of 3-6 months with a view to be extended or offered a permanent position for the right candidate at a rate which is negotiable dependent upon experience

We are looking for a Solicitor (Childcare) this role will be: Hybrid SW1E6QP

The right candidate will:

As a Solicitor (Childcare), you will play a key role in providing expert legal advice and guidance to colleagues, managers, and partner agencies. You will support the council’s objectives by managing a diverse caseload of childcare matters, contributing to high-profile cases, and ensuring compliance with legal frameworks.

* Delivering legal and procedural advice on childcare law to Members, Officers, and partner agencies.

* Managing routine and complex legal cases, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of advice and services.

* Drafting legal documents, preparing court submissions, and conducting legal research.

* Advising on relevant legislation, case law, and procedural changes, keeping the council informed.

* Supporting the Principal Solicitor and Director of Law on significant, politically sensitive cases.

We require the following:

* Proven experience advising on local authority duties and powers relating to children and young adults.

* Qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or Fellow of CILEx entitled to practice in England and Wales. Applications from Trainees nearing qualification will also be considered.

* Strong knowledge of childcare law, related legislation, and case law.
