A welcoming and inclusive secondary school in Tower Hamlets is seeking a School Welfare Officer to join their dedicated pastoral and safeguarding team. This vital School Welfare Officer role focuses on supporting the physical, emotional, and social wellbeing of students—helping to create a safe, nurturing environment where every young person can thrive.
About the Role – School Welfare Officer
* Be the first point of contact for student medical and welfare needs
* Provide day-to-day medical care, first aid, and emotional support to students
* Maintain and monitor student health records, care plans, and medical supplies
* Work closely with the safeguarding team and pastoral leaders to support students’ wellbeing
* Liaise with parents, carers, and external health professionals when necessary
* Support attendance and behaviour teams in identifying barriers to learning and wellbeing
* Maintain accurate records in line with safeguarding and data protection policies (CPOMS etc.)
Ideal Candidate Will Have – School Welfare Officer
* Experience working in a school, youth, medical, or safeguarding setting
* First Aid qualification (or willingness to complete training)
* Strong knowledge of safeguarding, confidentiality, and professional boundaries
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* The ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and families
* A calm, compassionate, and proactive approach to supporting young people
