Paralegal – Public Law / Community Support
Location: Reading – Hybrid (office-based 2–3 days per week)
Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time
Salary: Competitive (dependent on experience)
We are working with a well-established regional law firm that is looking to appoint a proactive and organised Paralegal to support a specialist public law–focused team.
This is a non-fee-earning support role, working closely with senior lawyers and the wider team to ensure matters are progressed efficiently and to a high standard. The position would suit someone who enjoys a varied workload, takes pride in strong administration, and is looking to develop their career within a supportive legal environment.
There is longer-term scope for progression for the right individual, depending on performance and business needs.
The Role
You will provide day-to-day administrative and case support across a busy legal team, including:
* Maintaining accurate file management, records, and case management systems
* Managing diaries, correspondence, and document handling
* Supporting billing processes and basic financial administration
* Instructing third parties and agents as required
* Assisting with initial enquiries and screening new matters
* Providing cover and support during periods of absence within the team
* Working independently on allocated administrative tasks
* Managing competing priorities and deadlines effectively
* Supporting the wider team in meeting individual and departmental objectives
* Assisting with ad hoc legal tasks where appropriate and depending on experience
About You
* At least 2 years’ experience in a Paralegal or similar legal support role
* Comfortable working unsupervised on administrative aspects of files
* Strong written and verbal communication skills
* Well organised, with excellent attention to detail
* Confident managing multiple tasks and deadlines
* Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative approach
* Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office
* Able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
