Materials Controller (6-month Contract) Keeping the site from turning into a Wickes on a Saturday..
Start: Mid-October 2025
The Job:
Think of this role as being the unsung hero of the build the person who makes sure the brickies don't run out of bricks, the chippies don't run out of timber, and the plumbers don't start borrowing copper from places they shouldn't. You'll be the one calling off materials, managing deliveries, and keeping the stores in order basically the difference between a smooth-running site and one where everyone stands around blaming the QS.
The Company:
Our client is one of those big-name developers who always seem to have a tower crane in the air somewhere in London. Quality builds, landmark schemes, long-term pipeline. The sort of place where you won't be embarrassed to say, yeah, I'm working on that one.
What you'll need
•A CSCS card (non-negotiable).
•Some experience keeping track of stock, ordering gear, and generally being the person who actually knows what's going on.
•Construction background helps, but if you've ever organised anything more complicated than a BBQ for 20, you'll probably be fine.
Job titles we've heard for this:
Materials Controller, Logistics Coordinator, The Poor Soul Who Signs for Everything. Whatever you want to call it, the role is the same: deal with deliveries, check quantities, liaise with the site team, and keep the yard looking less like a scrapyard and more like a system.
If you have the relevant experience, and would like to apply for this role, or wish to have a confidential chat about your situation, then please feel free to send a CV to Spencer Wade on spencer @ borneltd .com or call on (phone number removed).
