About the Project
ITS Construction is supporting the commissioning phase of a major 35MW Energy from Waste (EfW) facility, delivered by a global energy and industrial group. The project involves complex mechanical systems critical to the safe and efficient operation of the facility.
Role Overview
We are recruiting 2 to 4 experienced Mechanical Commissioning Technicians to join the commissioning team. The role involves hands-on mechanical commissioning tasks, including inspection, testing, flushing, balancing, and fault finding on rotating equipment, pipework, valves, and HVAC systems. You will work closely with engineers and subcontractors to ensure the mechanical systems are fully tested, operational, and compliant with quality and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities

Assist with the mechanical commissioning of plant equipment such as pumps, compressors, valves, and pipework

Perform mechanical inspections and leak testing
*
Support flushing, cleaning, and balancing of pipe systems
*
Record and report commissioning activities and results accurately
*
Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams during mechanical system handovers
*
Ensure compliance with all site safety and permit-to-work systems
*
Support fault diagnosis and corrective actions during commissioning
Requirements
*
NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or relevant discipline
*
Proven mechanical commissioning experience on large-scale industrial or energy projects (EfW, power, process, or similar)
*
Familiarity with mechanical systems such as pumps, valves, pipework, HVAC, and rotating equipment
*
ECS/CSCS card required
*
Good understanding of health and safety on site including permit-to-work and LOTO procedures
*
Ability to read technical drawings and schematics
Desirable
*
Experience in Energy from Waste, biomass, or process plant commissioning
*
IPAF, PASMA or other relevant site safety certifications
*
Experience using commissioning management software
*
Strong communication and teamwork skills
