Job Title: Design Engineer
Location: Clevedon
Salary: £45,(Apply online only) per annum
We are currently recruiting for a designer engineer for a market leader within their industry Clevedon. As a Design Engineer reporting to the Design Team Lead, you will work closely with all departments, supporting the delivery of high-quality products. You will develop your electronics and software knowledge, assisting in the design, development, and improvement of our product range.
Key Responsibilities:
Design, develop, and support digital and analogue power/control circuits.
Participate in new product development, from research and schematic design to layout, testing, and delivery.
Understand product and commercial requirements, ensuring designs align with customer needs and business goals.
Manage the entire product lifecycle, including simulations, verification, component selection, and manufacturing documentation.
Collaborate with production, testing, and service teams to ensure manufacturability and reliability (DFx).
Conduct design reviews, prepare technical reports, and present proposals.
Oversee firmware/software development for charge controls, applying new technologies for futureproofing.
Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards, actively reporting near misses and safety concerns.
What We’re Looking For:
Degree in Power Electronics, Embedded Electronics, or related field.
Proven experience in hardware system design, schematic capture, and PCB layout (OrCad preferred).
Proficiency with electrical testing equipment (oscilloscopes, DMM, PSU’s, etc.).
Creative, methodical, and analytical problem solver with a strong attention to detail.
Experience with embedded programming, development boards, and emulators is advantageous.
Qualifications / Knowledge:
Degree in relevant engineering discipline
Experience with hardware design, PCB layout, and electronic testing
Knowledge of embedded systems and software development (an advantage)
Familiarity with industry standards and regulatory requirements
