CNC Miller

This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled CNC Miller to join a modern, well-organised facility producing safety-critical steering components for major OEMs across the automotive, defence, and heavy-duty sectors.
You’ll work on high-spec vertical and horizontal CNC milling centres in a clean, quality-driven environment that places strong emphasis on lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, and employee development.
The Role
As a CNC Miller, you will be responsible for the accurate manufacture of precision components, working to tight tolerances and exacting quality standards. Based at the company’s Coventry headquarters, the role operates on a rotating morning and afternoon shift pattern and involves full responsibility for setting, operating, and maintaining CNC milling machines.
This position suits a detail-focused engineer who is confident reading technical drawings, adjusting programmes, and carrying out in-process quality checks.
Key Responsibilities
* Set, operate, and maintain CNC milling machines (vertical and horizontal)
* Edit programmes, manage tooling, and apply offsets accurately
* Read and interpret engineering drawings, route cards, and quality standards
* Carry out in-process and first-off inspections using micrometres, verniers, gauges, etc.
* Work to ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and IATF 16949 standards
* Support shop-floor lean initiatives including 6S, TPM, and CI activities
* Collaborate with operators and team leaders to improve workflow and efficiency
* Maintain accurate documentation and inspection records
What We’re Looking For
* Previous experience operating CNC milling machines in a production environment
* Strong ability to read and interpret technical engineering drawings
* Confident working independently on complex, tight-tolerance components
* Methodical approach to quality, safety, and continuous improvement
* Knowledge of Fanuc or Siemens controls (desirable, not essential)
Hours & Shift Pattern
Monthly Rotating shifts:
Mornings
* Mon–Thu: 06:00–14:15
* Fri: 06:00–12:00
Afternoons
* Mon–Thu: 14:45–23:00
* Fri: 12:30–18:30
