Assistant SENCO
Location: Gillingham
Salary: NJC PO1, Points 27–37 (£37,035 to £46,731 pro rata, term time only)
Contract: Part-time/full-time considered, term time only
Start Date: September 2025 (or earlier by agreement)
An ambitious and inclusive secondary school in Gillingham is seeking a skilled and committed Assistant SENCO to join its strong SEND department. This is a fantastic opportunity to support and maintain excellent provision for students with SEND in a high-performing, well-organised mainstream setting.
Key Responsibilities:

Work closely with the SENCO (a member of SLT) to coordinate SEND provision across the school
*
Lead on key aspects of EHCP processes, provision mapping, and liaison with external agencies
*
Support classroom staff with strategies for inclusion, differentiation, and progress tracking
*
Play a key role in upholding and promoting the strong outcomes currently achieved by SEND students
*
Assist in leading and managing SEND support staff
What You’ll Need:
*
Experience working with young people with SEND in a secondary or similar setting
*
Strong knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and effective SEND interventions
*
Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, families, and external professionals
*
High standards of organisation, communication, and attention to detail
*
SENCO qualification (or willingness to complete it) is desirable but not essential
