The Role:
* Teach Food Technology across Key Stages 3 and 4, with exciting potential for contributing to Key Stage 5 (e.g., Hospitality and Catering, Nutrition) for candidates with relevant experience and expertise.
* Plan and deliver engaging, hands-on, and meticulously structured practical and theoretical lessons that inspire culinary creativity, teach essential cooking skills, and foster an understanding of nutrition, food hygiene, and dietary requirements.
* Contribute actively to the enrichment of food education through organizing and participating in extracurricular activities such as cooking clubs, baking competitions, healthy eating workshops, and educational visits to food businesses or farms.
* Support student progress through effective assessment and constructive feedback on both practical dishes and theoretical knowledge, carefully monitoring individual development and guiding students towards culinary mastery.
* Collaborate enthusiastically with colleagues in curriculum planning and departmental development, actively participating in meetings, contributing innovative recipes and project ideas, and helping to shape the future of Food Technology education within the school.
The Ideal Candidate:
* A qualified Food Technology Teacher (QTS or equivalent) with a strong academic and practical background in Food Technology or a related field.
* Possesses excellent subject knowledge across various aspects of food preparation, nutrition, and food science, coupled with an undeniable passion for instilling culinary expertise and promoting healthy lifestyles.
* Committed to inclusive and student-centred teaching practices, ensuring that every student feels confident and capable in developing their cooking skills and understanding of food.
* Able to inspire creativity, practical competence, and a genuine interest in food in students of all abilities, from foundational techniques to more advanced culinary projects.
* Willing to engage fully and enthusiastically in the wider life of the school community, embracing opportunities to contribute to extracurricular programmes and uphold the school’s vibrant ethos and values.
* Hold an Enhanced DBS Check (or willingness to obtain one) and be able to provide two satisfactory professional references.
