Teaching Assistant - Grade 5/6 Salary: depending on skills and experience
We are looking for a dedicated Teaching Assistant to support students in both academic and pastoral aspects of their education. This role involves assisting teachers in delivering engaging lessons, supporting students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), and contributing to a positive school environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Classroom Support: Assist teachers in creating a productive learning environment, supporting student engagement, and managing classroom behavior.
Student Assistance: Help students complete tasks, provide one-on-one or small group interventions (Grade 6), and support them with SEND and social-emotional needs.
Supervision & Welfare: Oversee students during break/lunch times, on off-site activities, and provide short-term classroom supervision when required.
Schoolwide Contribution: Assist with resource preparation, classroom displays, and administrative tasks while promoting positive relationships and inclusivity.
Safeguarding & Well-being: Uphold child protection policies and ensure student welfare is maintained at all times.
Requirements:
Grade 5: Level 2 Literacy & Numeracy, ability to work independently, strong interpersonal skills, understanding of SEND and SEMH needs, basic technology skills, and an inclusive approach. Grade 6: A relevant qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 3), significant experience working with students with complex needs, knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice, and training in areas such as behaviour management or first aid.
