Shift Engineer (Mechanical or Electrical)

Location: Gravesend, Kent
Salary: £53,000 + Plenty of Overtime
Shifts: Days & Nights – 12-hour shifts (7am–7pm / 7pm–7am)
Rota: 4-week rolling rota – 3 on 3 off | 2 on 2 off | 3 on 4 off | 3 on 2 off | 3 on 4 off

The Role

We are looking for a reliable and skilled Mechanical or Electrical Shift Engineer to join our established engineering team at a leading industrial facility in Gravesend. You will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient running of plant equipment, responding to breakdowns, and carrying out planned and reactive maintenance across the site.

Key Responsibilities

Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance across site machinery and equipment

*

Diagnose mechanical/electrical faults and complete effective repairs

*

Support continuous improvement and reliability initiatives

*

Complete shift reports, handovers and maintenance documentation

*

Ensure all work is carried out safely and in accordance with site procedures

*

Work effectively as part of a multi-skilled engineering team

Skills & Experience

*

Recognised Mechanical or Electrical engineering qualification (NVQ / City & Guilds / HNC or similar)

*

Experience in an industrial, manufacturing, production, or FMCG environment

*

Strong fault-finding skills with the ability to work under pressure

*

Good understanding of health & safety standards

*

Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
