Astute's Power team is partnering with a leading energy power company in UK and Ireland to recruit a Lead Controls and Instrumentation Project Engineer to work across their fleet in their central engineering team

Responsibilities and duties of the Lead Controls and Instrumentation Project Engineer role

Reporting to Head of Engineering you will:

Lead the design, development, and delivery of engineering strategies related to Controls & Instrumentation (C&I) systems for capital and operational projects.
Provide expert oversight and assessment of C&I designs, technical documentation, and project implementation plans.
Manage the execution of large-scale capital projects including new builds, lifetime extensions, and plant upgrades.
Coordinate technical evaluations, procurement activities, and commissioning support for new equipment installations.
Support and guide cross-site technical Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and ensure effective dissemination of lessons learned.
Oversee the installation and commissioning of systems to ensure compliance with design specifications and safety standards.
Ensure full compliance with all HSE legislation, policies, and procedures during project development and delivery.
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to develop and implement innovative engineering solutions.

Monitor contractor performance and project progress through site visits, documentation reviews, and regular reporting.
Provide leadership to engineering teams, contributing to recruitment, development, and performance management.
Professional qualifications
We are looking for someone with the following:

Degree qualified in Engineering or a related discipline (or equivalent industry experience).
Chartered Engineer (CEng) or Incorporated Engineer (IEng) status or working toward professional registration.
Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in a senior engineering role within the power generation or industrial infrastructure sector, particularly with CCGT experience.
Demonstrable experience in project engineering and construction management, including budget oversight and risk mitigation.
Proven ability to develop and manage strategic technical plans and support long-term asset integrity.

Personal skills

Strong leadership presence with the ability to motivate multidisciplinary teams in high-pressure environments.
Self-driven and highly autonomous, capable of managing multiple complex tasks simultaneously.
Flexible and solutions-oriented mindset with a commitment to continuous improvement and innovation.
