Are you a passionate and dedicated Social Worker looking for a rewarding opportunity in a supportive and forward-thinking environment? Tameside Metropolitan Borough Council is seeking an experienced and highly motivated individual to join our dynamic Duty & Assessment Team.
About the Role:
As a Social Worker in our Duty & Assessment Team, you will be at the forefront of children's social care, responsible for undertaking initial assessments, responding to safeguarding concerns, and making crucial decisions to ensure the safety and well-being of children and young people in Tameside. This fast-paced and challenging role requires excellent assessment skills, strong decision-making abilities, and a commitment to achieving the best outcomes for families.
Key Responsibilities:
* Undertake timely and high-quality single assessments, Section 47 enquiries, and strategy discussions.
* Respond effectively to new referrals and safeguarding concerns, ensuring immediate risks are addressed.
* Work collaboratively with partner agencies, including police, health, and education, to gather information and inform assessments.
* Develop clear and concise plans that address identified needs and risks.
* Provide clear and accurate reports and maintain comprehensive case records.
* Attend and present at child protection conferences, court hearings, and other relevant meetings.
* Work proactively to de-escalate crisis situations and provide immediate support to families.
About You:
* A qualified Social Worker with current Social Work England registration.
* Demonstrable post-qualifying experience in children's social care, ideally within a duty and assessment or frontline safeguarding team.
* Thorough knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation, policies, and procedures including the Children Act 1989 and 2004, Working Together to Safeguard Children.
* Excellent assessment, analytical, and risk management skills.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with children, families, and professionals.
* Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage a diverse caseload.
* Committed to continuous professional development.
* Possession of a valid UK driving licence and access to a car for business use.
