The Client
Our client is a well established and leading provider of specialist flooring and wall cladding contracting services, covering the whole of the UK and Ireland. They have a fantastic reputation as market leaders within their field and cover a wide range of sectors including commercial, retail, local authority and education. Due to recent expansion, the company has a key requirement for a Floor Layer on a permanent basis, working out of their head office in Huddersfield.
Main Purpose of the Role
* Prepare subfloors by cleaning, levelling, and smoothing surfaces prior to installation.
* Measure and cut flooring materials accurately to fit designated areas.
* Install a variety of floor coverings, including carpet, vinyl, laminate, rubber, LVT (Luxury Vinyl Tile), and hardwood.
* Use adhesives, nails, or staples to secure flooring materials.
* Ensure all installations meet industry and safety standards, as well as customer expectations.
* Work from drawings or plans to lay out flooring patterns and designs.
* Operate hand and power tools safely and effectively.
* Inspect completed work to ensure proper installation and finish.
* Communicate with clients, and team members to coordinate work efficiently.
* Maintain a clean and organised work area, including proper disposal of waste materials.
* Follow health and safety protocols on-site at all times
Experience required
* Experienced and fully qualified in commercial flooring (LVT, vinyl, safety flooring, carpet tiles, etc.)
* Excellent H&S knowledge
* Proactive approach to problem solving and attention to detail
* Must have a full UK driving licence
* Ability to work independently or as part of a small team
* Willingness to travel across the UK where required
The Rewards
The starting salary is £28,000 - £35,000 per annum and they will be entitled to 21 days annual leave, plus the public & bank holidays with a Christmas shutdown. The working hours are 8am until 4.30pm, Monday to Friday with a 30-minute lunch break with opportunities for overtime (evenings and weekends) at enhanced rates.
