Mechanical Engineer – Facilities Management
Location: Paddington
Salary: £40,000 + Training + Progression + Overtime
Hours: Monday to Friday - 8:00am – 5:00pm

About the Role
We have partnered with a specialist in the healthcare space who are seeking an experienced and reliable Mechanical Engineer to join their facilities Management team on a prestigious hospital contract.
In this vital role, you’ll be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and optimising mechanical systems that support the hospital’s safe and continuous operation — helping to provide a comfortable, compliant, and secure environment for patients, staff, and visitors.
You’ll work closely with other engineers, the helpdesk, and clinical teams to ensure all building services operate safely, efficiently, and in line with NHS and statutory standards.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive repairs on mechanical building services and plant, including HVAC, AHUs, FCUs, pumps, valves, and pipework
Support critical systems such as medical gases, heating, ventilation, chilled water, and drainage
Perform fault-finding, diagnostics, and repair work on mechanical equipment and controls
Ensure all work is completed safely, on time, and in compliance with HTM (Health Technical Memoranda) and statutory regulations
Record and update maintenance logs, work orders, and asset registers
Support emergency, shutdowns, and planned maintenance activities as required
Work collaboratively with hospital estates staff, contractors, and the wider FM team to ensure smooth service delivery
Qualifications & Experience
Recognised Mechanical qualification (City & Guilds / NVQ Level 3 or equivalent)
Experience working within a hospital or healthcare environment (essential or highly desirable)
Knowledge of HVAC, water systems, and building mechanical plant operations
Understanding of HTM and H&S compliance requirements within healthcare settings
Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
Good communication, organisation, and teamwork abilities
Additional electrical or BMS experience is advantageous
