Job Description:
A friendly and inclusive primary school in Newham, East London, is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join their team from September 2025.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a graduate who is passionate about working with children and considering a future in primary teaching. The role is full-time, term-time only, and offers valuable experience in a supportive school environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Support the class teacher in delivering engaging and effective lessons across the curriculum
Work one-to-one and in small groups with pupils to support their learning and development
Assist in preparing lesson materials and setting up classroom activities
Help manage classroom behaviour and encourage positive learning habits
Contribute to the planning and delivery of creative learning experiences
Provide support to children with additional needs when required
Be actively involved in school life, including events and extracurricular activities
Requirements:
A degree in any subject (education-related degrees welcomed but not essential)
Experience working with young people in a paid or voluntary capacity (e.g. tutoring, mentoring, classroom support, youth work)
A genuine interest in primary education and child development
Excellent communication, teamwork and organisational skills
Positive, proactive and caring attitude
Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to apply)
