I am seeking an experienced Indirect Tax Accountant to join a not-for-profit organisation in Manchester. This role requires expertise in tax compliance and reporting, with a focus on indirect taxes.

Description
Take primary responsibility for coordinating and delivering all routine and statutory tax obligations, including periodic reporting, returns and settlement of liabilities.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders to enhance workflows and systems, ensuring legal requirements and deadlines are met efficiently, with tax implications embedded into any operational or system changes.
Advise and support teams across the organisation on tax-related considerations arising from business activities, including risk assessment and international matters.
Oversee and address tax compliance matters linked to international operations and digital or online learning activities, introducing new controls or procedures where necessary.
Contribute to the design, enhancement and maintenance of financial systems to ensure accurate tax data, strong audit trails and reliable tax accounting records.
Manage and review the organisation's indirect tax position, including ongoing assessment of VAT exposure and the effective use of VAT grouping arrangements.
Support the Group Head of Tax in building tax awareness and capability within the wider finance function, helping colleagues recognise when specialist input is required.
Act as a point of contact with external tax advisors and tax authorities, and engage with relevant industry forums and professional networks.
Partner with the Group Head of Tax on broader tax matters impacting the organisation.
Undertake additional responsibilities appropriate to the role and level as required.
Identify and implement opportunities for process improvements in tax compliance and reporting.Profile
A successful Indirect Tax Accountant should have:
A professional qualification in accounting or tax, or equivalent experience.
Strong knowledge of indirect tax principles and regulations.
Proven experience in preparing and reviewing VAT returns.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
Good IT skills, highly proficient in Excel and experience of working with a large ERP
Experience working within the not-for-profit sector is desirable but not essential.Job Offer
Competitive salary ranging from £55,000 to £65,000 per annum.
