Fire Risk Officer
Location: South & South West (Hampshire, Wiltshire, Somerset, Dorset, Devon, Cornwall)
Work Pattern: Hybrid (Approx. 40% site-based, 60% home/office-based)
Contract: Full Time | Permanent
Driving Licence: Full, clean driving licence and access to a vehicle required
Reports To: Head of Fire Safety / Head of Safety
Our client is seeking a Fire Risk Officer to help keep their homes, residents, and buildings safe. This is an exciting opportunity to bring your expertise to a forward-thinking organisation dedicated to maintaining high fire safety standards across a diverse property portfolio.
You’ll work across the South and South West of England, with occasional travel to London, providing expert fire safety advice and ensuring compliance with the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005. You’ll carry out detailed Fire Risk Assessments (FRAs), develop fire safety action plans, and collaborate with multiple stakeholders to support their commitment to safety.
What You'll Be Doing
* Conducting FRAs in residential and commercial premises using PAS 79 methodology
* Developing and reviewing fire strategies for communal and individual building areas
* Auditing third-party FRAs to ensure accuracy and compliance
* Liaising with contractors, local authorities, and the Fire & Rescue Service
* Maintaining a central database of FRAs and fire safety records
* Supporting fire investigations and contributing to fire safety action groups
* Advising on fire safety design, legislation, and specifications with AM&M teams
* Delivering training and toolbox talks on fire safety as needed
What We’re Looking For
Essential:
* Qualified in Fire Safety / Fire Risk Assessment (IFE or equivalent)
* Strong experience conducting fire risk assessments and inspections
* Comprehensive knowledge of current fire safety legislation
* Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
* Experience in construction or housing environments
Desirable:
* NEBOSH General Certificate
* Awareness of asbestos regulations
* Domestic Energy Assessor accreditation
* Experience delivering fire safety training or policy development
* Understanding of the affordable housing sector
