A highly popular and well-resourced SEN school in Rochdale is seeking a committed SEN Teaching Assistant to join their thriving school community immediately. The school supports students aged 11-16 with a range of additional needs, including ASC, PMLD, visual impairment (VI), hearing impairment (HI) and complex learning difficulties. Staff work collaboratively to create a structured, nurturing and engaging learning environment where every student is supported to achieve their full potential.

The Role

As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will support students on a 1:1 and small group basis throughout the school day, helping them to access learning and develop independence.

Your responsibilities will include:

Supporting students with EHCPs across lessons and activities
Assisting with supervision, personal care and welfare where required
Working closely with teachers to deliver tailored learning activities
Encouraging engagement, communication and positive behaviour
Promoting a safe, inclusive and supportive classroom environment
Supporting students' academic, social and emotional development

The Ideal Candidate

Experience within a specialist school, education or care setting
Strong communication skills and a proactive approach
Patience, resilience and a nurturing manner
A Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification or a Psychology-related degree (desirable)
