Role overview: Process Automation Business Analyst (Manchester or London, Hybrid working)

The role is suited for an individual with a ‘can-do’ attitude. Take the lead to define and document business processes and software requirements to be delivered through a combination of off-the-shelf technology supplemented with in-house development. Serve as a liaison between business and technology scrum teams by facilitating communication and determining software objectives that align with stated and unstated business needs.
Key responsibilities
· Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand desired capabilities, processes, procedures, regulatory requirements, and reporting needs.
· Document detailed business requirements to feed into the IT development lifecycle and implementation process.
· Create comprehensive system specifications, including technical user stories, interface/API specifications, system configurations, and data mappings.
· Work with the project team to perform detailed gap analysis, design, planning, scoping, and estimation of all activities and workstreams.
· Generate and maintain various analysis and design artifacts, such as use cases, workflows, charts, and diagrams.
· Participate in architecture, design, modelling, and development meetings to provide insights into system functionality and technical specifications.
· Maintain comprehensive functional and system knowledge of the solution, including behaviour, business flow, data flow, and system interfaces.
· Lead discovery and analysis workshops and deliver training to new employees and team members.
· Retain and maintain deep reinsurance business knowledge and functional knowledge of the reinsurance system.
· Stay aligned with reinsurance business strategy, provide suggestions to improve solutions, and assist with the direction of the roadmap.
· Support system test and UAT processes by providing input into test cases and acceptance criteria and assist with transactional data validation and troubleshooting.
· Assist with system upgrades, defect triage, and coordination of resolution with the core delivery team.
· Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders to ensure alignment and effective communication throughout the project lifecycle.
· Identify potential risks and issues related to reinsurance processes and systems and develop mitigation strategies to address them.
· Proactively identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiencies within the reinsurance operations and systems.
· Ensure that all reinsurance processes and systems comply with relevant regulatory requirements and industry standards.
· Perform data analysis to support decision-making and provide insights into reinsurance operations.
· Develop and maintain regular reports and dashboards to track key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics.
· Coordinate with external vendors and service providers to ensure the successful delivery of reinsurance solutions and services.
· Lead change management initiatives to ensure smooth adoption of new processes and systems within the reinsurance team.
· Develop and deliver training programs to enhance the skills and knowledge of team members regarding reinsurance processes and systems.
Skills criteria
· Curious mind-set to learn about reinsurance and ILS with an appetite to make processes better, whether that be quicker, clearer, simpler, or more robust.
· Commercially and customer minded – able to analyse and interpret information to develop clear requirements that deliver customer and outcome focussed solutions.
· Engage actively across the enterprise with a wide range of people, from highly technical software developers to Senior Executive stakeholders. This means the ability to change style and approach is essential.
· Familiar with documentation, process modelling tools, e.g., Visio, Miro, Lucidchart etc.
· Advanced Microsoft office skills (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
· Finance, Insurance and/or Reinsurance experience.
Desirable skills
· Experience of working in a matrix team across multiple internal and external teams including third party suppliers.
· Experience of the full project delivery lifecycle from business case through to implementation and service transition.
· Experience with agile development methodologies and agile planning tools such as Jira.
· Relevant business qualifications such as IIBA CCBA/CBAP or BCS.
