Job Opportunity: Senior Sous Chef

Location: Sandsend, Whitby

Salary: £40,000 per annum + Share of Service Charge + KPI Bonus Scheme

Set against the backdrop of the beautiful coastal village of Sandsend, Whitby, our client is transforming a historic site into a luxury wellness-led sanctuary. This extensive refurbishment is part of a larger £100 million development aimed at redefining luxury with top-tier interiors, an indulgent spa and gym, exquisite lodges, and unparalleled dining experiences.

We are on the lookout for a talented Senior Sous Chef to play a pivotal role in our kitchen operations. This position offers the opportunity to work closely with the Head Chef to oversee the daily workings of the kitchen, providing leadership and inspiration to the culinary team.

Key Responsibilities:

* Act as the second-in-command in the kitchen, collaborating with the Head Chef to manage culinary functions.

* Supervise and train kitchen personnel, overseeing the flow of dishes and ensuring quality and service standards are met.

* Assist in menu development, including crafting new recipes and updating offerings based on seasonal availability and guest preferences.

* Ensure the kitchen operates efficiently, maintaining top culinary standards and complying with safety and cleanliness regulations.

* Manage inventory, food purchase needs, and kitchen equipment, ensuring expenditures stay within budget limits.

* Lead kitchen staff in the Head Chef’s absence, ensuring seamless operation and consistent guest satisfaction.

Requirements:

* Extensive experience as a Sous Chef or Senior Sous Chef in a reputable restaurant or hotel kitchen.

* Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage, motivate, and develop a large team.

* Strong understanding of kitchen management, including food safety regulations, inventory control, and cost management.

* Creative culinary skills with the capability to innovate and present exciting new dishes.

* Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

* Commitment to high standards in quality and cleanliness.
