A1 Jobs is proud to be working in partnership with a well-established accountancy practice based in Lanarkshire. We are currently seeking an experienced Bookkeeping Manager to lead a dedicated team of bookkeeping and payroll professionals. Candidates with a strong accounting background particularly those experienced in management accounts, are also encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities:
* Supervise and support a team of 9 bookkeeping staff, reviewing VAT returns for accuracy and compliance.
* Prepare and analyse detailed management accounts and present findings to clients.
* Maintain accurate bookkeeping records for a portfolio of clients up to trial balance stage.
* Process payroll, post journals, and prepare and submit VAT returns.
* Manage the preparation and issuance of CIS certificates and statements.
* Act as the primary point of contact for client queries, building and maintaining strong professional relationships.
* Contribute to continuous improvement by introducing innovative ideas and streamlining processes.
* Participate in regular management meetings.
About You:
* Proven experience in team leadership or supervisory roles.
* Strong technical skills in bookkeeping and payroll systems including Sage Line 50, Sage Cloud, and Xero.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office, with strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.
* Capable of managing multiple priorities and meeting tight deadlines.
* Confident, approachable, and skilled in mentoring and supporting staff with varied personalities.
* Background in management accounts or general accounts is highly desirable
