The Role – Year 2 Teaching Assistant

As a Year 2 Teaching Assistant, you will be working one-to-one with a pupil with SEMH needs, providing consistent emotional and academic support throughout the school day. Your role will involve helping the child to stay engaged in lessons, regulating behaviour, and building confidence through positive relationships and structured routines. You will work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement tailored strategies and interventions, supporting both learning and wellbeing. The ideal candidate will be patient, resilient, and nurturing, with a calm approach and experience supporting children with additional emotional or behavioural needs.
