We are looking for strong, calm, and compassionate individuals who understand that behaviour is communication and that every child deserves the right support.

In our vibrant and busy primary school, you will work with pupils with Additional Learning Needs (ALN) and challenging behaviour — not just to manage situations, but to change outcomes.

The Pupils You’ll Support

We are specifically seeking candidates with experience in:

Additional Learning Needs (ALN), including:

Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
ADHD
Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN)
Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD)
Attachment and trauma-related needs
Sensory processing differences

You will help pupils:

Access learning in the classroom
Develop emotional regulation skills
Build confidence and independence
Improve communication and social interaction
Feel safe, understood, and supported

Challenging Behaviour Experience

We need individuals who do not take behaviour personally and who understand that behaviour is communication.

You may be supporting pupils who:

Experience emotional dysregulation or meltdowns
Display disruptive or avoidant behaviour
Struggle with transitions and routine changes
Use inappropriate language
Present with verbal or physical behaviours during heightened moments

You must be able to:

Remain calm under pressure
Use de-escalation strategies effectively
Follow behaviour plans and risk assessments
Set firm but fair boundaries
Build positive, trusting relationships

Resilience is essential. Empathy is non-negotiable.

Youth Workers or Care Workers transitioning into education
Individuals with strong character and a nurturing approach

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
