Are you an organised and detail-driven professional with experience in manufacturing environments? We’re on the lookout for an Inventory Controller to take ownership of stock accuracy and inventory processes for a well-established engineering business based in Cambridge.
This is a brilliant opportunity to step into a pivotal role where you'll help shape stock control practices, support process improvement initiatives, and collaborate across departments to ensure operational efficiency.
What You’ll Be Doing:
As Inventory Controller, you’ll be the go-to person for everything stock related—ensuring that inventory records are accurate, identifying and resolving discrepancies, and maintaining smooth flow across the supply chain. Your responsibilities will include:
*
Conducting routine cycle counts and investigating stock variances
*
Carrying out root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions
*
Supporting continuous improvement and LEAN initiatives to streamline inventory storage and movement
*
Producing regular reports on stock accuracy and write-off performance
*
Delivering training across production and shop floor teams to promote consistent stock handling
*
Managing scrap allowance processes and ensuring proper documentation
*
Working within Microsoft Dynamics to record stock transactions and adjustments
*
Collaborating with Purchasing, Logistics, and Planning teams to improve visual stock management
*
Engaging with suppliers to drive efficiency through smaller, more frequent deliveries
*
Promoting a culture of waste reduction within the business unit
What We’re Looking For:
We’re after someone with hands-on experience in inventory control within a manufacturing setting, and ideally someone who’s had exposure to ERP systems (Microsoft Dynamics would be a bonus). You’ll need:
*
A track record of improving stock accuracy and driving process improvements
*
Practical knowledge of inventory systems and best practices
*
Strong communication skills and the ability to work well across departments
*
Attention to detail and a proactive, can-do attitude
*
The confidence to lead training sessions and champion high standards
*
Ideally, a qualification in engineering or a related discipline (not essential if you’ve got relevant experience)
Why Join?
You’ll be joining a collaborative, forward-thinking team that values accuracy, innovation, and continuous improvement. There are clear opportunities for progression, including potential steps into Senior Inventory Controller or Team Leadership roles in the future
