Materials Manager
Are you an experienced logistics leader with a passion for driving efficiency, developing teams, and improving operational performance? We are currently recruiting for a Materials Manager to lead our internal logistics function at a dynamic and fast-paced manufacturing site.
Location: Wolverhampton
Hours: 39 hours per week, Day Shift
Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage a team of internal logistics personnel, including team leaders.
Oversee all material deliveries and collections within the production process to ensure timely and efficient operations.
Drive reduction of OEE losses related to logistics and implement effective countermeasures.
Attend and contribute to daily and weekly operational meetings across business units.
Ensure compliance with statutory requirements, including racking checks.
Manage vehicle fleet operations and coordinate training/versatility programs.
Standardise best practices and monitor adherence to safety, 5S, and performance KPIs.
Report regularly on key metrics including headcount, absence, and logistics-related losses.
What We're Looking For
Proven experience in a logistics or materials management role, preferably in the automotive or a similarly high-volume manufacturing environment.
Strong leadership and people management skills, with a proactive and tenacious approach to problem-solving.
A logical, methodical mindset with the ability to drive continuous improvement.
IOSH Managing Safely certification and/or relevant leadership and management qualifications.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a talent for building cross-functional relationships.
Competence in literacy and numeracy to at least Level 2 standard.
Desirable Attributes
Business process expertise with a track record of improving operational logistics.
Passion for developing and mentoring high-performing teams.
Experience using KPIs to track, manage, and improve performance outcomes.
