Business Development Manager – Freight Forwarding
Salary: £45,000 - £50,000 basic (DOE) + Benefits
Location: Tilbury, Essex
Hours: Monday to Friday, 09:00 – 17:00

An established and respected freight forwarding company—operating since 1979—is seeking a Business Development Manager to join their busy and friendly team based in Tilbury, Essex. With a strong reputation in multimodal logistics and a specialism in Far East Ocean imports, this organisation offers a solid platform for a motivated sales professional to thrive.

The company operates across Air, Sea, Road, and Rail, with AEO accreditation and direct Customs clearance links at all major UK ports and airports. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with experience in freight sales to play a key role in driving new business and building long-term client relationships.

Key Responsibilities:

Generate new business leads across all freight types: FCL/LCL sea freight, air freight, road freight, imports and exports.

Proactively source and develop business opportunities through your own efforts and internal referrals.

*

Build and maintain strong client relationships, delivering tailored and competitive transport solutions.

*

Work flexibly between office-based and field-based activity.

*

Develop and manage a sales pipeline, delivering consistent growth.

*

Transferable business would be a significant advantage.

Requirements:

*

Minimum 2 years' experience in a freight forwarding sales role preferred.

*

A solid understanding of global logistics and freight operations.

*

Strong negotiation and communication skills.

*

Highly organised with strong attention to detail.

*

Confident using Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel).

*

A team player with a proactive and dynamic attitude.

*

Excellent written and verbal English.
