Electrician – Water Utilities & Field Services
Reading-Based with Travel Across Thames Region
£39,000 – £50,000+ (DOE & Qualifications) | Overtime & Expenses | Long-Term Opportunity
We’re working with a leading contractor in the utilities and water infrastructure sector who are seeking a qualified and hands-on Electrician to join their Reading-based team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with previous experience in the water industry to take on a varied and rewarding role across major water networks, including Thames Water, Southern Water, Anglian Water, and Severn Trent.
The Role:
You’ll be involved in a wide range of electrical and multi-disciplinary tasks, supporting both planned and reactive maintenance projects. Responsibilities include:

Installing and maintaining loggers, probes, and flow meters
*
Working with telemetry systems (including WASP)
*
General electrical installations
*
Fault finding and preventative maintenance
*
Supporting utility clients with infrastructure monitoring and upgrades
Key Details:
*
75–80% of work is within the Thames Water region
*
Some projects with Southern Water, Anglian Water, and Severn Trent
*
Occasional travel and overnight stays (fully expensed + £40/night allowance)
*
Mixture of electrical, mechanical, and field-based utility work
What We’re Looking For:
*
Fully qualified electrician (NVQ Level 3 or equivalent)
*
Previous experience working in the water industry is essential
*
Experience with testing & inspection (preferred)
*
Ideally holds one or more of the following:
*
Triple STS
*
CompEx certification
*
WASP system experience
*
Comfortable working in outdoor, hands-on environments
*
Flexible and open to travel and occasional nights away

Competitive hourly rates:

£18–21/hr depending on experience
*
£23–24/hr for those with all three key qualifications (up to ~£50K annually)
*
Paid travel & overnight expenses
*
£40 allowance per night away
*
