Job Title: Waking Night Support Worker
Reports to: Registered Manager & Directors
Hours: 39 HPW
Salary: Competitive Depending on experience
Location: Derbyshire

Purpose of Job:
The post holder will actively promote the rights of Young People as individuals and provide them with quality care in accordance with the policies and procedures of the organisation.
To assist in the provision of a safe and homely environment both individually and as part of a team to help young people achieve their potential. This includes the ability to work within Equal Opportunities and Quality Assurance framework and may include undertaking delegated responsibilities for designated tasks. The ability to maintain confidentiality of client information is also important.

Duties and Responsibilities
Physical/Emotional/Social Needs of Young People
Assist in the development of new techniques and approaches to the childcare provision
Promote, safeguard and protect the welfare of each Young Person
Provide support and reassurance to any Young Person who should wake in the night/early hours, following guidelines, alerting
sleep in staff as necessary
Establish and maintain positive and trusting relationships with the Young People that will promote their sense of security
Provide firm, consistent and fair boundaries in respect of their behaviour and employ appropriate and agreed sanctions
Promote the development of a healthy lifestyle for Young People
Assist in the organization of activities and participate in group holidays
Assist in the preparation of meals, complete cleaning and laundry tasks within the home to meet the needs of the Young People.
Observe and assess the behaviour of Young People
Assist in the planning and preparation of Young People for admission or discharge, to and from residential care
Work within the principles of the therapeutic parenting model at all times
Team Expectations
Assist client-need and ensure that all Young People have care plans and to develop, implement and review packages of care
Work as a member of a team, ensuring that the reception, ongoing care and discharge of Young People is undertaken in accordance with the statutory framework and policies & procedures of the organisation
Attend and contribute to staff meetings; this involves participation and collaboration with other staff in the provision of care to enable the development of the home
Work closely and in co-operation with carers, social work staff, specialists and other professional agencies in accordance with the role and function of the home
Attend childcare reviews and other forums where young people’s needs are being considered
Support less experienced staff from time to time as part of their induction process to the home in conjunction with the organization’s policies and procedures
Make positive use of supervision by more senior staff
Participate in the staff appraisal scheme
Show a willingness to undertake appropriate training as part of overall professional development. All staff are expected to undertake all compulsory training and training to Diploma level
Administrative
To undertake routine administrative tasks and provide written reports and maintain the Young Person’s file as required by the organisation’s policies and procedures
Compile reports, including Review, Progress and Incident reports
Adhere to appropriate guidelines and procedures
Receive complaints in accordance with the policies and procedures of the organisation
Undertake financial management and recording of day-to-day petty cash maintenance in accordance with the organisation’s policies and procedures
Carry out duties in accordance with the health & safety at work act, adopting safe working practices, in accordance with the organisation’s policies and procedures
All duties and responsibilities will be carried out in accordance with the policies and procedures of the organisation
Participate in alternating shift pattern
Common Duties and Responsibilities:
Safeguarding
You must ensure that safeguarding underpins every aspect of your practice, and that the safety of each young person in the Company’s care is paramount. You must report any practice that may put a young person at risk immediately to your line manager, or higher if appropriate.
Supervision and Appraisal
All members of staff will receive support, supervision and appraisal and it is the responsibility of each member of staff to follow the company’s procedure in respect of supervision and appraisal.
