In this role, you will be responsible for producing detailed 2D AutoCAD drawings, preparing accurate parts lists, and supporting the procurement process. You will also assist in maintaining company procedures, handling client queries, and identifying training needs to support your own professional development.
Key Responsibilities for the CAD Technician:

Produce 2D AutoCAD drawings, engineering models, design base documentation, and technical reports.
*
Prepare accurate parts lists to support the procurement team.
*
Supervise junior designers in the production of drawings and engineering models (depending on experience).
*
Carry out design risk assessments, raise design quality plans, and review design changes.
*
Support internal and external client queries professionally and promptly.
*
Contribute to the development and improvement of internal design procedures.
Skills & Experience Required:
*
Proven experience in water design engineering projects (preferably with utilities such as UU, STW, YW, SW).
*
Engineering qualifications in Mechanical Engineering, Design Engineering, or a related field.
*
Strong understanding of process safety, with knowledge of hazard identification and risk control methods (e.g., LOPA, ALARP, HAZID, HAZOP).
*
Working knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems.
*
Proficient in AutoCAD and Plant 3D (preferred)
*
Experience using programs such as BIM 360 and Navisworks.
*
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively across all levels—from production teams to senior management.
*
High attention to detail and strong organisational abilities.
*
Enthusiastic, solution-focused mindset with a proactive, can-do attitude.
