Financial Controller – WS Digital Freight (Warrington)

Location: Warehouse 145, Stretton Green Distribution Park, Appleton, Warrington, Cheshire, WA4 4TQ
Salary: c. £50,000 (DOE)
Working style: Office-based with flexibility

WS Digital Freight is a fast-growing transport procurement business with big ambitions. That means change, pace, and opportunity… and it also means they need someone solid to get the finance basics running brilliantly so the business can scale properly.

They’re looking for a hands-on Financial Controller who enjoys rolling their sleeves up, improving processes, and building a function that can keep up with growth.

The Role

You’ll report into the Group Finance Manager and Group Finance Director and take ownership of the day-to-day finance engine for WS Digital Freight.

Your core focus will be:

* Month-end close

* Management accounts

* Improving the accuracy, controls and flow of day-to-day finance

* Working closely with Group credit control

* Supporting/overseeing a transactional Accounts Assistant

They’re currently on Sage Online, but are actively reviewing systems, so you’ll have a voice in what “good” looks like as we improve and potentially change platform.

What They Are Looking For

This is ideal for someone who’s strong on the fundamentals and wants a role with real ownership, not just reporting.

* AAT qualified minimum

* Started (or planning) ACA / ACCA / CIMA (QBE absolutely considered)

* Confident with month end and management accounts

* Comfortable in a small team / “get it done” environment

* Process-minded: you spot what’s broken and fix it without drama

* Good Excel skills (you don’t need to be a wizard, just competent and tidy)
