Progression Coach – Supporting Young People Across County Durham

Contract: 3 months initially (possibility of extension)
Hours: 37 hours per week
Location: County Durham (travel required across the area)

Do you have a passion for supporting young people to achieve their potential?

We’re looking for a motivated and empathetic Progression Coach to join our Education and Skills team, working with young people aged 16–24 who are Not in Education, Employment or Training (NEET) — helping them explore their options and move forward into education, training, or work.

? What you’ll do
Manage a caseload of young people aged 16–24 who are NEET or at risk of becoming NEET.
Provide one-to-one and group support to raise aspirations, build confidence, and remove barriers to progression.
Work collaboratively with schools, colleges, training providers, employers, and local agencies.
Deliver practical advice and guidance — including employability skills, applications, and interview preparation.
Maintain accurate records of progress and outcomes.? About you You’ll be someone who is approachable, organised, and passionate about helping young people succeed. You will have:

A Level 2 qualification in Information, Advice and Guidance, Youth Work, or a related subject.
Experience working with vulnerable or NEET young people.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
The ability to travel throughout County Durham to meet young people and attend meetings.A Level 3 qualification in Information, Advice and Guidance and experience of partnership working with education or employment providers would be an advantage.
