Job Title: Assistant Technical Surveyor
Reports To: Team Manager

The post of Assistant Technical Surveyor is a generic technical role and the post-holder will be expected to assume duties and responsibilities, as required by the exigencies of the service, across a range of technical functions including assisting with:
client management; quality assurance; site surveys, complaints and Housing Health & Safety Ratings System (HHSRS) surveys.
* Assist in all technical aspects of client management for delivery of the service, and in the
provision of technical support to other areas of Newcastle as required
* Support the work of designated technical surveyors(s) by working across a range of duties and responsibilities to deliver site inspections, ensuring performance reviews are achieved according to project information, and that work delivered by partners and contractors is in accordance with contract documentation, regulations and quality standards
* Assist in the investigation of complaints or deficient service delivery, and take appropriate action, including liaison with tenants and leaseholders
* Provide technical support as required

Essential Criteria
* Qualification in a relevant construction discipline, and/or or industry experience
* Demonstrable commitment to Continuing Professional Development in relevant fields
* Knowledge of statutory requirements including HHSRS, Building Regulations, planning, listed building consent, Construction Design and Management (CDM) regulations, and Energy Performance Certificates
* Knowledge of standards and regulations applicable to the delegated areas of responsibility
* Good written and numeric skills for assisting in the production of contract documentation, and project management of capital and minor works schemes, including planning, designing, procurement and feasibility studies, and the ability to project manage non- complex works
* Good communication and observation skills to undertake inspections of contractors’ works to ensure quality is being delivered, and committed to working collaboratively with tenants, tenant representatives, leaseholders and all stakeholders to achieve high quality services and develop improvement
* Well organised and able to prioritise work to achieve outcomes to targets, within the framework of all health, safety and legal requirements of the job
* Ability to deliver services that uphold the requirements of the Equality Act, Safeguarding policy and Dignity at Work policy
* Competent user of range of technical and IT equipment and software required to carry out role
* Willingness to travel outside of the Newcastle upon Tyne area as required, staying in overnight accommodation (provided by our partner) where necessary
* Possesses and maintains a valid driving licence and is willing to drive as required by role
* Student or Graduate Membership of RICS, CIOB or equivalent, working towards full
membership
