Uniform Education is recruiting a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant for a specialist school in Merton. The school supports pupils with a range of needs, including Autism (ASC), Moderate to Severe Learning Difficulties (MLD/SLD), and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
About the Role:
As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:
* Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with additional learning and communication needs
* Assist the class teacher with planning and delivering engaging, differentiated lessons
* Use tools such as PECS, Makaton, and sensory strategies to enhance learning and communication
* Promote independence, emotional regulation, and social skills development
* Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and support staff to meet EHCP outcomes
* Support with personal care or mobility when required (training provided)
* Help create a safe, positive, and inclusive classroom environment for all pupils
What We’re Looking For:
* Experience supporting children or young people with SEN (essential)
* Knowledge of Autism, SLD, or SEMH (desirable)
* Patient, empathetic, and proactive approach to supporting pupils’ development
* Strong communication and teamwork skills
* Willingness to assist with personal care and/or manual handling (training can be provided)
* Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply via Uniform Education)
