Are you a Behaviour Mentor who is passionate about supporting young people who face barriers to education?
We’re working with a welcoming and inclusive secondary school in Newham looking for a Behaviour Mentor to support students with ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) and challenging behaviour. This role is vital in ensuring students receive the emotional, behavioural, and academic support they need to succeed in school.
Role Overview – Behaviour Mentor
* Deliver 1:1 support and behaviour mentoring to students with ASD and social, emotional or behavioural needs
* Support pupils both in and out of lessons, promoting engagement and emotional regulation
* Work closely with the SENCO, behaviour team and teaching staff to implement personalised support plans
* Use de-escalation strategies, restorative practices and trauma-informed approaches
* Track progress, manage behaviour logs and provide regular feedback
* Help create a calm, safe learning environment for students at risk of exclusion or disengagement
What We’re Looking For – Behaviour Mentor
* Previous experience supporting students with ASD, SEMH, or behavioural needs
* Confidence delivering 1:1 and small group interventions
* A calm, consistent and empathetic approach to behaviour support
* Strong communication skills and the ability to build trusted relationships
* Team player with a proactive mindset
* Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
Ideal for:
* Behaviour Mentors or Teaching Assistants with SEN/SEMH experience
* Youth Workers or Pastoral Support Officers
* Graduates in Psychology, Criminology, or related subjects
* Those with PRU, inclusion or alternative provision backgrounds
