A client within the Private Sector based in Tyne and Wear is currently recruiting for a Quantity Surveyor to join their Capital Projects Delivery team as soon as possible. The client is offering a full time, permanent position with the ideal candidate having experience of working within a construction and capital works environment.
The Role
Key purpose of the role is to provide Quantity Surveying and Employer’s Agent services across a range of public sector capital projects and be responsible for all aspects of service delivery from inception to completion.
Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
• Acting as lead Consultant under supervision in delivering projects both pre- and post-contract across various sectors
• Undertaking all aspects of financial project management including preparation of appointments and contracts
• Providing Employer’s Agent / Contract Administrator services including issuing project certification
• Preparing interim valuations, contract instructions and final accounts
• Compiling and issuing tenders, analysing contractor responses and recommending contract awards
• Attending pre-contract meetings, liaising with professionals, and undertaking site inspections including snagging and handovers
• Ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards
• Supporting business development and client relationship management
The Candidate
To be considered for this role you will require:
• A Degree in Quantity Surveying or HNC in Building Studies
• A minimum of 3 years’ experience within a construction-related organisation
The below skills would be beneficial for the role:
• Experience of financial planning and cost control in capital projects
• Knowledge of procurement routes and standard forms of building contract
• Strong communication and negotiation skills with ability to influence at all levels
The client is looking to move quickly with this role and are offering up to £40,000 p/a + benefits.
